Cycling Metric

What is Efficiency Factor (EF)?

The ratio of Normalized Power to average Heart Rate, used to track aerobic fitness changes.

Deep Dive

Efficiency Factor (EF) tracks the relationship between the external work you do (Power) and the internal physiological cost (Heart Rate). As your fitness improves, you should be able to produce more power for the same heart rate, increasing your EF.

Formula
EF = NP / Avg Heart Rate

Why It Matters

It provides a clear metric for tracking base fitness improvements without needing frequent maximal testing.
