Cycling Metric

What is Fatigue (Acute Training Load - ATL)?

A weighted average of your daily TSS over the last 7 days, representing your short-term fatigue.

Deep Dive

Fatigue (ATL) reflects the training stress you've accumulated over the past week. Because it averages over a shorter period (7 days vs. 42 for CTL), it rises and falls much faster than fitness. A high ATL indicates you are tired right now.

Formula
ATL_today = (TSS_today * (1/7)) + (ATL_yesterday * (1 - 1/7))

Why It Matters

Monitoring ATL prevents overtraining. If your ATL rises too sharply compared to your CTL, you risk injury or burnout.
