What is Intensity Factor (IF)?

The ratio of the Normalized Power to your Functional Threshold Power, giving you a relative measure of how hard a ride was.

Deep Dive

Intensity Factor® (IF) is the ratio of the Normalized Power® to your Functional Threshold Power (FTP). It provides a way to compare the difficulty of different rides regardless of duration. For example, an IF of 1.0 means you rode at exactly your threshold intensity.

Formula
IF = NP / FTP

Why It Matters

IF helps you contextualize a ride. A 200W ride might be easy for a pro (low IF) but a maximum effort for a beginner (high IF). It's crucial for planning race pacing and recovery rides.
